CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Kids are welcome at Bedford Community Church!

Every Sunday we hold Children’s Church. Children’s Church starts shortly after the main service, allowing kids to sit with their parents and caregivers for a short time before they all go out together. Children’s Church is a short, simplified version of the adults’ service. We sing songs; hear the Bible read; have a very, very short Bible-based talk (a “sermon-ette”); and pray together. This time is lead each week by our Children’s Ministry Worker.

After Children’s Church, the kids split up for their age-based Sunday School activities.

Children who are not yet old enough for grade one may attend lessons in the Noah’s Ark class. They are taught using the “Serious Play” kids@church curriculum.

The children who attend lessons in the Lord’s Learners class are in the first few years of formal schooling. They are taught from the “Adventure Plus” kids@church curriculum.

The children who attend lessons in the King’s Kids class are in the middle and upper grades of primary school. The King’s Kids have a lesson from the “Over the Top” kids@church curriculum.

This year, we hope to expand to a fourth Sunday School class, for children in the upper primary and junior secondary grades.

After Sunday School, the kids gather again for morning tea, and then often play games outside in the shady, fenced courtyard. Kids may be collected from these areas after the adults’ service is completed.

On Wednesday mornings parents of children below school age may bring their children to attend our mainly music group.

A Children’s Ministry Worker has been employed by Bedford Community Church to oversee the church’s ministry to children, and provide pastoral support to families in the church. Sharon Jackson is available in the office on Tuesdays and may also be contacted via email: sharon@bedford.org.au.
